Pregnancy Diet Part 1

We hear the word ‘diet’ and think extreme changes, and often time changes that are difficult.

It is time to change our mind set!

One book that I absolutely recommend is The Better Baby Book by Lana Asprey and Dr. David Asprey.

This book breaks down preconception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. It is very informational and explains the why behind the diet suggested.

Let’s get into it…

  • Whole Foods: We must prioritize fresh, unprocessed foods. Think fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, good quality meat, etc.
  • Healthy Fats: Avocados, (not cooked) coconut and olive oil. Oils can be used in dressings to add flavor as well. If you do not eat a ton of fish, Nordic Naturals has great Omega 3 specifically made for pregnancy and postpartum.
  • Hydration: Good, pure water is essential for building a baby. If it comes in a plastic bottle or the sink, it is often time not the best quality. When we consume water that is not purified or clean, it does not hydrate your body the same or detoxify our bodies the way need be.

If we start with these essentials and make sure they are in our diet, this can help baby have the essential building blocks to healthy development.

Stay tuned for more!

Melina
